Seriously, hatred is probably too nice of a word to explain the acidic emotional response to the Gopher hockey team. The 'Sota folks always respond that its based on jealousy, but Badger fans, Sioux fans, Bulldog fans, etc. will always respond that its because they are so arrogant and pompous. But lets get down to the brass tacks on this issue using the following bullets to explain why the Gopher's are so hated...

1) Doug Woog...Does anyone remember him saying "We can win it all with just Minnesota kids on the team and I don't need to go outside of MN to get a championship caliber team". Doug's NCAA titles during his tenure at Minne: A Big Fat Zero!

2) WCHA Finals at a neutral site....Across the river in St. Paul...Hard to believe that MN has not won every Frozen Five tournament!

3) MSC - Actually should be called the Minnesota Sports Channel or even better the MGSC, Minnesota Gophers Sports Channel.

4) Frank Mazzoco - This guy has got to be the biggest homer in the country with a fake hair piece. Trust me, if anyone on your team is from Minnesota, is connected with the Gophers, or has ever heard of Mariucci you will hear about it in some insanely stupid color spot during the broadcast.

5) The Gopher Power Play - this is really tough to state, but its probably the best in the country. The passing is crisp and even the defensemen can score at will...So again, its a good reason to hate them, especially if your WCHA team gets called for too many penalities when playing them.

6) Hot Cheerleaders - Since most our teams cannot sport hotties like this on a regular basis, we have to hope they come along on all the road games...Damn you Gophers!

7) Enter your own reason....Its really not that hard!

In closing, it was probably one of the best years for the gopher haters! Way to go Holy Cross!

IRAN - Bomb them or placate them?

Nothing like having a country who is the largest supporter, both financially and militarily, of Islamic terrorism in the Middle East years or maybe months away from a nuclear weapon capability. Funny, most of us really don't want to imagine a suicide bomber exploding a nuclear dirty bomb in Tel Aviv and starting the brutal retaliation by the Israeli Nuclear arsenal on Iran and potentially other Muslim countries in the region. Certainly, its easier to pretend that we can negotiate with the mullahs of Iran and for goodness sakes no one of a sane mind would want to start a nuclear war - it is this type of thinking on the behalf of Europe, China, Russia, and the Socialist Democrats in the United States that will most likely lead us to this wicked scenario.

But how can we stop this potential action you say? First, we need to have some solidarity within the US on the Iraq war and also with the President. As hard as that is for the Democrats who are smelling blood in the upcoming election season, it is a requirement to suspend the idiotic beliefs of our enemies that we are weak and unwilling to commit militarily to their ill-conceived behavior and actions. Second, we need to twist the arms of the Russians and Chinese so they understand that if nuclear war breaks out in the region that they will have blood on their hands and they will also bear the responsibility of the destruction and chaos that will likely ensue. Lastly, we need to admit Isreal into NATO with a declaration again of its most important principal to Iran and the Middle Easts dictators - a strike against Israel is a strike against all the countries in NATO.

Courage and focus will be the necessary behaviors of our government and the world to make sure the Iranians do not get the bomb and all Americans, Republican, Democrat, Independent, need to understand this before the cloud appears!

Another Great Global Warming Story - aka The Sky is Falling

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2006/04/dire_scientific_warnings_often.html

Fighting Sioux Nickname Issue

The NCAA rules on the University of North Dakota's second appeal on April 27th...Lets all cross our fingers and hope the NCAA wakes up and smells the flowers and grants the appeal. The Holy Cross Crusaders were for real this year and sent the #1 Gophers packing for a long bus trip home to Minneapolis. The Democrats have staked out their future position by standing with the illegal immigrants and voting against the criminalization of immigrants who already reside in the US. Even Ted Kennedy has voiced his agreement, in Spanish mind you, at one of the rallys last week. So how should the Republicans respond to this attack on the Law? Hopefully in a more agressive way than the last weeks that have shown the base a party that is willing to just about deal on anything with the Democratics to ensure the race card will not be played against them.

A new stance needs to be taken by the Republicans and it should start by playing to its base. First and foremost, they should seperate the border control issue from the criminilization of the illegals currently in the US. The Republicans could in one action solidify the base by putting the National Gaurd or building a wall to keep the current stream of illegals out of the country. The GOP base and the public would staunchly back this strategy as evidenced by the recent Rasmussen polls. Secondly, demand that the illegals currently in the US should be allowed to register, pay a fine, assigned a mis-demeanor charge, and allowed to apply for citizenship or a green card just like everyone else.

The key for the Republicans is to reiterate to the American public that they stand for the rule of law and fairness to others who are trying to get into this country and contribute legally. Lastly, let the public see the Democrats speaking in Spanish and let them continue to cement themselves as a party who has no idea about national security, much less the rule of law!

When is the Civil War in Iraq going to start?

To many of us who support the President and the country's military action in Iraq, the continuous coverage of every terrorist attack in the country with an immediate explanation that they are on the verge of "Civil War" is getting numbing and downright un-patriotic. It's as if the press in this county and the world are acting like crash-crazed NASCAR fans who only watch in the hope of untold carnage with the next pile-up. To the chagrin of the MSM folks and the far-left Democrats, the Iraqi people have been turning away from the civil war cliff for the last two years in droves and are still vigorously trying to establish a government that allows for true freedom in that ravaged country.

Amazingly, it seems only like yesterday when the very first election occurred in Iraq and the Democrats and the MSM predicted wide-spread chaos and civil war. Happily they were wrong due to the civil war re-buff given by the Iraqis and the coalition forces on that faithful day of Iraqi courage. Sadly, to the MSM, it only heighted their excitement that a second election would give them their well prophesized civil war in Iraq. But again, they were disappointed and left to mull the continuous terrorist attacks in front of their barricaded hotel rooms in Baghdad and make the canned report stating "The violence continues throughout Iraq and civil war has to be just around the corner!"

Recently, we now come to the current predicament where actual MSM reporters are going beyond their hotel doors and out into the Iraqi countryside to assess the progress or lack of progress of Iraq's path to democracy. Begrudgingly, many are finding that not everything in Iraq is doom and gloom and progress seems slowly to be occurring. Granted, its still very dangerous in parts of the country and most have to travel with military units, but its nowhere near the Vietnam quagmire that was so agressively touted by the Democrats and the MSM elites at the start of the war. Hopefully, the MSMs and the Democrats can take some time away from hating Bush to see the opportunity that exists for a free state at the center of the world's most troubling region and the large positives it means for the US and the rest of the world.

A really good article on Iraq's progress...http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110008182

The Blogger

Hopefully, when I get bigger I can post this picture to my Personal Profile...Not quite there yet!

Under Construction Notice - Conservatives Working

I hope to have a fun discussion blog dealing with American and World politics, religion, globalization, college hockey, and anything else worth talking about...So get ready and visit again soon for all the fun!

Frosty
